About the role

Empire Today’s Marketing & Media team promotes our business and drives sales of our products and services. Our department is responsible for acquiring new leads and prospects through television, online pay-per-click, digital, social, and affiliate marketing campaigns. The team manages the strategy, media buying, execution, and optimization across channels. We also own the creative, messaging, and delivery of our message to target consumers, and giving consumers a reason to believe in our brands.

What You'll Do

As a Web Developer (Full Stack), you will design, build and support innovative website features and backend applications and services to support the highly visible and business critical leads generation and data support activities of the Empire Today Marketing Department.

Empire Today’s marketing department creates the face of the company through various initiatives such as online media, digital media, email programs, and print collateral. By promoting Empire Today’s brand and line of products, we are able to reach a large audience of potential customers to support the success of Empire Today.

You will build intuitive web features, interfaces and services that make it easy for consumers, businesses and call centers to make appointments and engage in ecommerce displays and features. You will develop flexible APIs and services that can transmit and maintain data between our marketing and backend systems. You will use Azure’s cloud infrastructure technologies to build highly scalable, low latency, resilient web and services applications. The associate in this role will also be actively training to become a Software Engineer as part of working as a Web Developer with Empire.

The Web Developer works with the Lead Software Engineer and business owners to refine and translate requirements into technical specs. Develops, implements, maintains and troubleshoots web applications, services and public websites. Responsible for adding functions to and maintaining web architectural environments, and in maintaining professional coding and structural standards, as well as ensuring clean QA and build-release processes.

This highly visible position reports to the Lead Software Engineer and collaborates with an established and veteran team of frontend and backend web developers. This key position will be looked to for added expertise on ongoing backend development strategy and systems.

  • Work with business owners to refine and translate requirements into technical specs, that can be used by fellow developers.
  • Develop middleware infrastructure for public websites.
  • Design, develop and stand-up APIs and services to support Marketing requirements.
  • Develop, augment and maintain services to capture, pass and modify marketing data for business systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and deployment issues in release systems and in Azure application hosting systems.
  • Help maintain Azure and local development, QA, and production environments
  • Assist front-end developers with website updates and releases.
  • Step in to assist front-end debug and development as needed.
  • Assist in the development of test development and integration, in order to prevent code and function regression.
  • Write high quality code that is easy to maintain and test.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with fellow developers.
  • Demonstrates creative and useful ways of solving problems and finding solutions using various programming languages, best practices and tools
  • Raise issues proactively that might impact the business success
  • Debug and fix complex issues involving front and backend systems

What You'll Need

  • C#; ASP.NET MVC; Razor; ASP.NET Entity Framework; jQuery, HTML, CSS, Javascript (2-3 years)
  • SQL Server; T-SQL; (2-3 years)
  • Developing and maintaining web services (2-3 years)
  • Good understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Good understanding of application testing
  • Good knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and system development methodologies, with SCRUM experience a plus
  • Good IIS knowledge
  • Experience working on multiple projects with tight deadlines; strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Understanding of basic network architecture
  • Good experience with using project and task management software
  • Good experience with TFS or other Server Build / Release Management system
  • Experience developing within / customizing a CMS is a plus
