Honeycomb Shade Considerations

Honeycomb Shades, commonly known as Cellular Shades, are created from two pieces of pleated fabric that unfold like an accordion when opened. The distinct shape that is created between the pieces of fabric looks like a honeycomb or cell. These spaces provide a layer of insulation that helps promote energy efficiency; they can help protect against heat loss during the winter and help prevent heat gain in the summer. Honeycomb Shades are exceptionally versatile in design as they are available in an extensive range of designer colors and fabrics suited to either filter light or block it out. They provide privacy and are neutral to the outside creating great curb appeal and a uniform look from the outside of your home.

  • Pleat Sizes: Choose from three different pleat sizes: 3/8” for smaller windows, 9/16” pleats for average windows or a ¾” pleats for larger windows.
  • Blackout Honeycomb Shades: These Shades are designed with opaque fabric to maximize room darkening potential.
  • Light Filtering: This style of Honeycomb Shade allows subtle filtration of sunlight through the fabric, which is semi-opaque and allows for soft, muted natural light into your room.
  • Fabrics: Fabric options range from a textured parchment or linen look, to a soft and smooth, solid fabric.
  • Stacking Height: Honeycomb Shades have a minimal stacking height and almost disappear when raised, allowing you un-obscured views out your windows.
  • Top Down/Bottom Up: Lower from the top to maintain privacy while still allowing light to enter your room. Or, raise in the traditional manner, from the bottom up.
  • Cord Cleats: Help keep cords out of reach of children and pets to help prevent accidents.
  • Cordless: Allows you to raise and lower your Shades by pushing them up or pulling them down without any cords
  • Remote Control: Enables you to control your Honeycomb Shades with a wireless control.
  • Continuous Cord Loop: Helps keep cord loops out of reach because you can operate your Honeycomb Shades using one continuous cord.
