Tips for Maintaining your Hardwood Floors

Hardwood Flooring adds beauty, value and style to your home. You can keep them looking great by following these four helpful maintenance tips.

  1. Sweep, Dust or Vacuum Do one of these at least once a week, or more if needed, to prevent the accumulation of dirt. Accumulated dirt can potentially scratch or dull the floor's finish. When vacuuming, be sure to use the Hardwood Floor attachment.
  2. Wipe Up Spills Immediately Any spills should be wiped up right away with a warm, damp cloth to remove any substance from the floor. Spills left on the floor could potentially cause swelling, warping and ruin the floor's finish or the wood itself.
  3. Use Special Cleaning Product When you need to remove stubborn soil, always use a cleaning product especially made for Hardwood Flooring. Products not specifically made for Hardwood Flooring could contain chemicals that dull or ruin the floor's finish.
  4. Be Careful of Harsh Products Stay away from using buffing machines, steel wool or scouring powder. These products are harmful and can scratch the finish of the flooring.
